Incorporated
in early 1985, the Hutt family started their business with one truck
and two customers. Structuring the business around the satisfaction
of customer needs, Hutt targeted a segment of the market that was
not being serviced to its full potential. The market? New England.
The service provided? Refrigerated and frozen TL and LTL.
By 1992, Hutt had established a solid reputation
for reliability in a truly tough market. When co-founders Bernard
& Jean Hutt retired, the husband and wife team of Jim and Ellen
Hutt assumed sole ownership. In order to satisfy increasing customer
needs, the company expanded the fleet to 15 trucks and regularly
served over 75 customers. Soon thereafter, a number of customers
began requesting the company provide them with real time tracking
systems of shipments. Hutt listened, and in partnership with its
customers, installed satellite tracking systems on all of the company’s
power equipment, which provided Hutt customers numerous advantages
in managing their freight.
In 1995, Hutt formed HTC, a one-call-does-it-all
brokerage service. HTC gives Hutt the ability to serve on-demand
needs of even the most demanding customers and their shipping requirements.
Use of the brokerage service allowed Hutt to expand its customer
base and to serve all 48 continental states.
1996 Marked another banner year for Hutt,
as it opened it’s second terminal located in Massachusetts. Establishing
this terminal provided Hutt an opportunity to make local deliveries
and begin a dedicated local shuttle service for it’s east coast
customers.
At the start of 2005, Hutt made yet another
leap in the services it provides to it’s customers. Warehousing.
The company moved from it’s long time home in Hamilton, Michigan,
to a state of the art facility with an attached 55,000 square foot
fully automated warehouse in Holland, Michigan. The new location
is only one minute from I-196. With an unlimited amount of off-site
warehousing space available, we’re able to provide multiple opportunities
to partner with our customers on a whole new level, which includes
warehousing, contract packaging, product inspection and dedicated
local shuttles. Hutt has the complete logistics package.
Today, Hutt Trucking Company is still family
owned and operated. There have been many changes over 20 years,
but one thing remains constant, and that’s Hutt’s commitment to
customer service.
